History of TOPS:

The RMATC Performance Sub-committee originated with the dream to hold a Terriers Only Performance Summit (TOPS) to celebrate terriers and all their diverse capabilities. So in 2007, the RMATC worked hard and became approved by AKC to hold agility, obedience and rally trials.
So far RMATC has held 3 TOPS events - May 2008, May 2009 and May 2011. These events have been held at Island Grove Park in Greeley and Castle Rock CO and has included obedience, rally and agility trials as well as other fun activities (e.g., earthdog demo, trick competition, photo contest, etc) for 3 days. In 2011, we learned a lesson the hard way. Don't let a bunch of terriers chase a bag in the area if they plan to run agility there the next day. An earthdog trial is also part of TOPS and is held by one of the local earthdog clubs. They use a conveniently located and gorgeous site in the Colorado Rockies foothills that is already set up for earthdog trials.

So far we have had TOPS competitors from 18 states beyond Colorado and 1 Canadian province:

Since holding our first two TOPS, we have since determined that we would prefer to hold a TOPS event every other year. So, our next TOPS will be held August 24-26, 2018 in Lakewood, CO.
