FDA Advises Against Chicken Jerky

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is again cautioning consumers that chicken jerky products for dogs (also sold as chicken tenders, strips or treats) may be associated with illness in dogs. In the last 12 months, FDA has seen an increase in the number of complaints it received of dog illnesses associated with consumption of chicken jerky products imported from China. These complaints have been reported to FDA by dog owners and veterinarians.

Heartworm tests April 9th

Sarah Jones will perform heartworm tests again, this year, at the MHGR agility trial at Douglas County Fairgrounds in Castle Rock on Saturday, April 9th, from approximately noon to 3pm. Any canine is invited provided they are friendly to humans. The cost is $20.00. I will also have limited amounts of Heartgard and Interceptor to purchase if you so wish and have had the test done. I can accept cash or check. No need to sign up, first come, first served.

The Rocky Mountain All-Terrier Club held its fourth Terrier Group show in Greeley, Colo., on Friday, September 10, 2010. It was the club's largest show yet, with an entry of 301 (249 dogs) in regular classes, sweepstakes competition for young Terriers and veterans, a brace class and Junior Showmanship. The club was formed in 2004 on Colorado's front range, with an initial membership of approximately 50.

AKC Launches New Coursing Ability Test

New Test Allows All Dogs the Chance to Experience the Fun and Excitement of Lure Coursing

New York, NY - The American Kennel Club (AKC) is pleased to announce the launch of a new titling event - the Coursing Ability Test - on February 24, 2011 in Calhoun, GA. Open to all dogs, the Coursing Ability Test is an introductory P event fashioned after the sport of lure coursing and meant to be a fun, healthy activity for dogs and their owners. Coursing Ability Tests may be held by all licensed lure coursing clubs.
